Duration Study Load
Duration: 1 year (600 hours / 52 weeks)
Australian Domestic students can select to study online, in blended mode or on campus.
Please note that regardless of study format selected some practical aspects MUST be attended in person on our Southport and Beechmont QLD Campuses.
International students must select On Campus study mode.
In order to successfully complete the course in one year, we recommend allocating a minimum of 15 hours per week regardless of the study method selected.

On Campus:
Full time students must attend 15 hour a week.
The schedule for the days of Campus attendance is provided after you have decided which course intake you will enrol for.
Please check with HIA Office Administrator at the beginning of your term.
Each year is comprised of one-third theory + two-thirds practice.
Full-time students must complete their lecture, tutorial and attendance within the allocated period.
It is mandatory to sign off hours attended immediately after each and every attendance (class, tutorial, retreat, whatever) and student logbooks need to be kept current. They remain the property of the Institute in your file for assessment validation.

70-acre property in Beechmont, S.E. Queensland.
**Both HIA campuses are meat (including fish and chicken), smoke, alcohol, and drug-free.
PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS
Online and Mixed delivery students must attend the following at our Southport and Beechmont campuses:
Skills Training (Southport):
2 x 3-day weekends
Abhyanga (Ayurvedic massage course and Common Units)
2026 dates: 4-6 September
2027 dates: 19-21 March or 3-5 September
Kati Basti and Shirodhara (Ayurvedic specialist treatments and Common Units)
2026 dates: 1-3 May 2026 or 16-18 October 2026Residential Retreat (Beechmont):
7–10 days of "Living Ayurveda and Yoga"
2026/2027 dates: July 2026, September 2026, or January 2027
Entry Requirements
Minimum 18 years of age.
Entry Requirements: No prerequisites; International students require an IELTS score of 6.0.
Interest in health, wellbeing and alternative therapies is strongly encouraged.
Work Placement
CLINICAL PLACEMENT
Clinical placement is a mandatory training component of this course, where students apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios under the supervision of qualified practitioners. It is designed to develop practical skills and clinical attitudes in a live client setting.
Key aspects include:
- Supervised Training Hours: Students must complete a minimum of 200 supervised clinical training hours at an HIA-approved clinic or specialised facility.
- Case Studies: Placements involve managing client cases, conducting investigations, and developing diagnostic skills within an Ayurvedic framework, such as assessing doshas, diet, and lifestyle.
- Practical Skills Development: Students practice techniques such as 25 Ayurvedic lifestyle management and 25 massage therapy ( under direct observation.
- Real Client Interaction: Students work with actual clients to provide health, community care, and wellness services.
- Assessment & Competency: This period assesses student competency and work performance to ensure readiness for professional practice.
Placement settings include on-campus clinics, specialist retreats, or approved partner clinics, providing a vital transition from student to professional ALC consultant.

Your fees include a Welcome Package containing textbooks by Shanti Gowans, Ayurvedic oral care tools, health aids, and digital learning resources. You will also have access to weekly tutorials and signature yoga/meditation practices.
To complete the course online, you must have access to a computer and reliable internet.
