Duration Study Load

Full Time only: 18 months — 6 x 10-week terms 

Study commitment: 2 days per week on campus + approximately 7 hours per week self-directed study at home 

Part-time delivery is not available for this course.

Entry Requirements

Students must be 15 years and over. We also require basic English language skills and a genuine interest in the beauty industry. If you’re unsure about meeting requirements, our admissions team can discuss your individual circumstances.

Materials

Before you begin your course, you’ll be required to purchase a hairdressing kit which includes all the professional, industry-standard quipment you’ll need for your course and to start your career. This kit includes hair dryer, straightener, scissors, razor, brushes and combs, clips and headblocks.

When you study with Demi International, you’ll have access to:

  • One-on-one support sessions with your trainer

  • All products and treatments for your clients

  • Discounts on products and treatments at the Student Clinic

All our students also recieve a Demi International t-shirt as part of their uniform to be worn during your classes on campus.

Subjects

Course Modules
Inside the Salon

Learn how to work, communicate and excel in a salon! This course module includes financial transactions, workplace health and safety, maintain and organise tools and equipment and environmentally sustainable practices.

Salon Client

You’ll learn how to develop a client base, provide and expand your services and visual merchandising in a salon.

Hairdressing Foundations

Provide shampoo and basin services including head, neck and shoulder massage and identify and treat hair and scalop conditions.

Cut and Design Skills

This is where it gets fun! You’ll learn to design haircut structures including solid, graduated, layered and combined structures. Learn over-comb techniques and traditional men’s haircuts.

Creative Hair Design

Learn to braid and style hair for all occasions for long and short hair.

Colour, Bleach and Highlight

Learn to colour and lighten hair providing full and partial head treatments. Neutralise unwanted colours and tones, provide full and retouch bleach treatments. You’ll also learn chemical treatments to straighten and relax hair.

Payment Options

  • Fee for Service: Pay your course fees directly, with flexible payment plans available. 

  • No government funding (VSL, Career Start, or Career Boost) is available for this course. 

  • Course fee: $12,282 + $250 enrolment fee 

  • Hair Kit: A professional hair kit is required — $940 (additional to course fee) 

Entry requirements: Must be 15 years of age or older and display the required level of competence for study.
