Course Overview
The CHC42315 Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care is an 11-month, nationally recognised online qualification that builds the skills you need to provide compassionate, person-centred pastoral and spiritual care across aged care, hospitals, disability services, faith-based organisations, and community settings.
Throughout this qualification, you will learn to:

Plan and deliver person-centred pastoral and spiritual care
Respond to each person’s individual needs, values, and beliefs, offering a steady, compassionate presence grounded in genuine training and purposeful practice. -
Work legally and ethically within pastoral care settings
Apply relevant legislation, policies, and professional boundaries with confidence and integrity. -
Support people through grief, loss, crisis, and trauma
Use evidence-informed approaches that prioritise dignity, safety, and hope as people navigate life’s most difficult moments. -
Recognise and respond to complex needs
Identify and respond appropriately to situations involving alcohol and other drugs, domestic and family violence, mental health concerns, and co-existing vulnerabilities. -
Contribute to culturally safe and inclusive care
Engage respectfully with people of all backgrounds and beliefs, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities

Delivery
This qualification is delivered through an online and self-paced model, giving you the flexibility to balance study, work, and personal life.
The blended learning model combines live trainer-led sessions with flexible self-paced study, creating an engaging and supportive learning journey.
Blended Online Learning: Delivered through Hader Institute ’ s virtual learning environment using Zoom and the aXcelerate LMS.
Trainer-Led Classes: Join engaging live sessions for 3 hours each week via Zoom. Take part in discussions, group activities, and realistic role plays.
Self-Paced Study: Dedicate around 15 hours per week to self-paced online learning through aXcelerate, allowing you to strengthen your knowledge and skills with flexibility. Access to recorded materials.
Mentoring Support: Monthly one-on-one mentoring sessions with trainers via Zoom or phone. Quick trainer support with responses within 72 hours on business days (Monday to Friday).
Work Placement: Complete 100 hours of supervised work placement in an approved chaplaincy or pastoral care organisation.
Program Delivery Structure: This program is delivered as a standalone Certificate IV qualification, enabling you to progress through units in a structured yet flexible sequence aligned with your chaplaincy and pastoral care skill development.
