What is JobTrainer?
JobTrainer is an Australian Government initiative in response to COVID-19 that partners with participating state governments to offer free or low-fee VET courses throughout Australia. JobTrainer covers many subsidised courses and allows eligible students to gain accredited qualifications or upskill in fast-growing and vital industries.
What courses does JobTrainer funding apply to?
JobTrainer funding is available for complete qualifications as well as short courses and apprenticeships.
A list of these courses is agreed upon between the National Skills Commission and state and territory governments.
State and territory governments are responsible for determining which courses are eligible, but they often include qualifications in:
- Digital services
- Logistics
- Disability care
- Health
- Aged care
- Agriculture
- Financial services
- Beauty services
- Children’s services

Who is eligible for JobTrainer?
JobTrainer is intended for job seekers and young people, including school leavers. But any Australian wishing to learn skills in aged care, digital skills, disability care or childcare can sometimes qualify for a JobTrainer place regardless of age.
