A career in animal care is one that is full of opportunity and growth. With the ability to work anywhere in Australia, all you need is a qualification and some work experience. The animal care industry is expected to grow by 9000 over the next 5 years.
In 2019, there were approximately 26,000 people employed in the Veterinary Services industry.
On average, the salary of employees within the animal care sector is typically $53,244. If you work in a job such as veterinary medicine, then you can expect your salary to be significantly higher.
Salaries within the animal care industry tend to fall within a range of $42,000-$80,000.

Animal Care Attendant
An Animal Care Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks, including how to administer first aid, correct nutrition, health and identifying disease. It will also include grooming aspects such as bathing and prepping, and even tasks such as dog training.
Zookeepers are responsible for several tasks within the scope of daily care for captive animals. This includes how to interact with, monitor and observe wildlife, as well as how to ensure their safety. Wildlife Animal Carers may also explore and research animal behaviour in the wild.
Becoming a Dog Groomer
What is a dog groomer?
The job of a dog groomer is to wash, dry, clean, cut hair and trim the nails of dogs. It requires training as different rules apply for different types of dogs and coat types. You also need to make sure to not harm the animal in any way.
Becoming a Veterinary Nurse
What is a veterinary nurse?
The role of a veterinary nurse is to assist veterinarians with their tasks such as surgical assistance and helping with treatments. To work as a vet nurse you require at least a certificate III or IV in veterinary nursing.
About the veterinary industry
Since 2000, the veterinary nursing industry has grown from 3,600 to 12,100 in 2019. Veterinary nurses take up 42% of the Veterinary Services workforce and most have a certificate IV qualification.
Becoming a Dog Trainer
What is a dog trainer?
The role of a dog trainer is to teach dogs obedience and use methods to teach them appropriate behaviour. You can become a dog trainer in a variety of areas such as animal shelters, with the police force and with service dogs.
Animal Care Courses
