Important Information

Before you continue, please check if this course suits your needs:

  1. You must be an Australian citizen or resident. We are not CRICOS registered and cannot accept enrolments from International Student Visa holders (Subclass 500).

  2. This course is delivered in-person, with evening classes (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM) in Joondalup and daytime classes (9:00 AM – 4:30 PM) in Malaga.

  3. Know the time commitment. The course runs for 22 weeks full-time in Malaga or 27 weeks part-time in Joondalup.

Course Overview

The Diploma of Community Services qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals.

Duration Study Load

Study at our Malaga Campus Monday to Friday daytime for 22 weeks, or at our Joondalup Campus Tuesday to Thursday in the evening for 27 weeks.

Entry Requirements

  • Completion of CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services or equivalent industry experience is preferred prior to commencing this course.

  • If you do not meet the entry requirements of CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services, we recommend applying for CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services or CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services, both available with Industry Skills Training

  • Students must have prior work or study experience in Community Services

  • You will probably be currently employed in the industry or have very recent experience

Course Features

Tertiary SmartRider

Student Assistance Program

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a voluntary, confidential and complimentary counselling service which is dedicated to providing new and existing Industry Skills Training students with free and confidential counselling services to help with their mental health and well-being.

Work Placement

  • 200 hours of work placement is required

Materials

Students are provided with the following:

  • Required course materials such as work books
  • Your student training plan
  • A dedicated and qualified trainer
  • Targeted assessment tools

Subjects

A total of 20 units are required to complete this qualification; twelve (12) core and eight (8) elective units. Unit selection may vary dependent on delivery method and location.

Payment Options

Eligible students are able to access mainstream training under the subsidised Jobs & Skills, Priority Industry Training Program ‘Lower Fees, Local Skills’ & must meet the following requirements:

  • Primary place of residence to be in WA

  • No longer attending secondary school

  • Holders of a sub-class 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826 visa;

  • Secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 457; or

  • Holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790
