Why you should study a Diploma of Leadership or Management
The first reason you may be interested in studying a Diploma of Management is for professional development purposes. If you already work in a role or industry where you can see yourself advancing, then a diploma of management could help not only qualify you for promotions but also allow for workplace learning, where you can apply what you’re learning in your everyday workplace. Staff who complete management courses can give higher quality customer service, more professional business administration and communication skills, and a more inclusive learning environment for other staff members, so many organisations are happy to contribute to professional development management courses.
Another reason to study a diploma of leadership and management is for business development purposes. If you own or run your own business, understanding how an innovative work environment and being able to provide quality leadership is crucial both to you and those you employ in management roles.
Alternatively, those looking to become a manager, whether it be in human resources, project management or as a team leader, can show their intentions to their business manager or leader by undertaking a BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management, an Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management or other management course.
How to study
Many organisations offer the options of a credit transfer or recognition of prior learning. (RPL) This means that if you’ve studied something with transferable skills, completed a short course in management or have previous experience, then you may be eligible.
Many RTOs also offer both full time and part-time study options, depending on the course content, and payment options. Equally, online courses may differ in terms of upfront costs and units of competency to ensure that you can meet entry requirements, but are often offered as an alternative for face to face learning. International students should check with CRICOS to ensure that they’re eligible to enrol.
